Welcome to the conversation that accompanies my artwork. I love making art. It's a silent process that delivers more than I can imagine. Sometimes, words prompt the action. And often, the images prompt words. In either case, the meaning is expanded. I learn more about my reality.

I grew up in Kansas and now live in the Fingerlakes Region of New York. I have been making art for over 40 years, since graduating from the University of Kansas and Cornell University (MFA '83). I taught art classes for 30 years. I am now working in the studio, and enjoying daily conversations with my partner, Fernando Llosa. The human condition is the main topic. You might think we would run out of ways to discuss this, but instead, it is a continuously unfolding topic, as our observations grow and the world changes.

I will show some artwork here but focus on what I think and write about. The writing, which comes out of spontaneous journaling, will be loose, perhaps in need of some editing, maybe incomplete, but pointing to areas of interest that I would like to share.  To see more images, please visit my website, www.kimschrag.com.
